Anguloa mostly grows in mountain with very moist conditions at all roots. Flowers emerge at the base of the newest growth in late winter to early summer and are large.
Temperature : The plants are cool to intermediate growers, and can tolerate warm summer days. The ideal daytime temperature is 70˚- 80˚ and night time temperature is mid 50˚ to lower 60˚. It can also grow and bloom in medium temperature.
Humidity : As the plant have large pleated leaves, it prefers high humidity about 70% during summer months. During winter their leaves drop so they can tolerate lower humidity also.
Water : Plants require clean water, utilizing rain, distilled or reverse osmosis water. It prefers copious water during growing season. During winter months from late Nov. to mid Jan. we must keep root system drier for about 6-8 weeks. As soon as new growth initiate near the base of old pseudo bulbs, we must increase frequency of watering. After those growths are about 4-5 inches tall, we can increase fertilization level as well.
Fertilizer : The plant is heavy feeders we can use Grow More Urea free 20-10-20. If it is feed too much it will burn leaf tips. During spring and summer heavy fertilization is required and should be curtailed in fall and cut off completely in winter for at least 6-8 weeks. We must fertilize with Green Jungle every time we water.
Flowering : Flowerings occur generally in spring. It flowers heavily during April to May. The flowers are very large, yellow, tulip-shaped flowers. It has a particular fragrance. The flowers generally last for couple of months.
Repotting : The plant requires moist mix. It can grow in a Rockwood mix containing pargro Rockwood with 10%. Fine charcoal and 35% coarse perlite added for drainage. The plant can be divided after the plant has 6-8 pseudo bulbs per plant.
