Rinse turkey and pat dry with paper towels. |

Rub oil over turkey. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Place, meaty side up, in large slow cooker. |

Place onion and garlic around sides of cooker. Add water. |

Cover. Cook on Low 9–10 hours, or until meat thermometer stuck in meaty part of breast registers 180°. |

Remove from the slow cooker and let stand 10 minutes before slicing. |

Serve with mashed potatoes, cranberry salad, and corn or green beans. |
