Combine potatoes, butter, 4 tablespoons cream, sugar, 1 teaspoon salt, and ½ teaspoon pepper in Dutch oven. Cover and cook over low heat until potatoes are fall-apart tender (potatoes break apart when paring knife is inserted and gently wiggled), 1 to 1½ hours. |

Off heat, use potato masher to mash potatoes until few small lumps remain. Gently fold in remaining 2 tablespoons cream and season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve. |
