Directions
A no-brainer. This is really a multi-purpose chocolate sauce that’s great used for fondue but can also be drizzled over things such as banoffee pie. And if you put it in a jar in the fridge it will set softly, so you can use it as a chocolate spread. The fried cake for dipping works best if the cake is frozen first, as you will then get cleaner, less crumbly pieces to work with.

To make the fondue sauce, put all the ingredients in a saucepan and melt them together, stirring regularly until very smooth. |
2

Transfer the sauce to a fondue pot or a serving bowl and put it on the table if using for fondue. Otherwise pour the mixture into a sterilised glass jar and keep it in the fridge. Reheat to use as a sauce. |

|
To make the fried cake, cut the cakes into cubes each fairy cake could be cut into 4 pieces. |
4
Done
|
Melt the butter in a frying pan. Whisk the egg thoroughly with the maple syrup in a bowl. Soak the pieces of cake in the egg and maple syrup mixture, then remove them and fry them in the butter, turning them so they brown on all sides. Drain on kitchen towel and serve the fried cake with the chocolate fondue and the fruit. |
