Ingredients
-
1⁄2 cup Butter
-
1⁄2 cup Sugar
-
1⁄2 cup Molasses
-
1 Egg Yolk
-
2 cups Flour
-
1⁄2 teaspoon Salt
-
1⁄2 teaspoon Baking Powder
-
1⁄2 teaspoon Baking Soda
-
1⁄2 teaspoon Cinnamon
-
1 teaspoon Cloves
-
1 teaspoon Ginger
-
1⁄2 teaspoon Nutmeg
-
1 batch Cookie Glaze Icing
Directions
The aroma of ginger, molasses, and cinnamon always fills the house during the holidays and these Gingerbread Cookies are a classic family favorite. Use the Cookie Glaze Icing to add silly faces and “clothes” to your gingerbread men and to make your snowflake gingerbread cookies (made with a flower cookie cutter) beautiful.
Steps
1

Cream together butter and sugar in a stand mixer or large bowl. |
2

Add molasses and egg yolk. |

In a medium bowl, combine remaining ingredients. |
4

|
Add flour mixture to butter mixture and slowly mix together until ingredients are incorporated. Form the dough in a ball and keep in bowl; place in refrigerator for 1 hour. |

|
Preheat oven to 350°F. Then, roll dough to 1⁄4 inch thick and cut with your desired cookie cutters. I love to use snowflakes and the classic gingerbread cookie cutters, but you can use your favorite Christmas cookie cutters like bells, trees, and more. |
6
Done
|
Place cookies 2 inches apart on a baking sheet. |
7
Done
|
Bake for 8–10 minutes or until edges are slightly brown. Remove from oven and allow cookies to completely cool before icing |

|
Add Cookie Glaze Icing to a cake-decorating bag with a #2 tip. Ice cookies as desired. I love the classic gingerbread look with two eyes and three button dots down the center of the gingerbread. We also love to add clothing by drawing on shirts and pants |
