Directions
This is a decidedly autumnal treat, perfect for enjoying at the end of a long, lazy Sunday lunch. For a deliciously crunchy crumble, make sure to just rub the butter into the flour and sugar so that it’s still coarse.

Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F), Gas mark 4. |

Place the cut pears in the pie dish, then sprinkle over the sugar and pour over the maple syrup. |

In a bowl, mix together the sugar and flour, then rub in the cubes of butter until the mixture looks like coarse breadcrumbs. |

Tip the crumble mix over the fruit, then place in the oven and bake for about 30 minutes until the crumble mixture is golden brown. Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly before serving with softly whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. |
