Ingredients

1.5 cup cake Flour (or all purpose flour)
0.5 cup Sugar
1 large Egg ( blend and save 1 teaspoon for egg wash)
1 teaspoon Baking Powder
1 tablespoon Water
0.5 stick Butter (55 g), coarsely cut
0.5  Lb Bean Paste (tsubu an, or koshi an)
12 Walnuts

Make 12 balls of bean paste.

In a bowl blend egg, sugar, and water until smooth

Put butter, baking powder and flour into a small food processor. Mix by pulsing operation of the food processor.

Add egg-sugar mix and briefly mix by pulsing.

Transfer the dough from the food processor to a floured board.

Knead briefly. The dough must be soft like earlobe.

Divide to 12 pieces. Flatten each to a round shape in palm. Use corn starch if the dough is sticky.

Put each bean paste ball at the centre of a flattened dough, and wrap by bringing up the edges.

Seal the opening, and adjust the shape.

Brush the top with egg wash.

Stick a piece of walnut into the top of manju.

Bake at 350F for 20 minutes, or until the surface is browned.
